True to its name, this tree produces stunning flowers in the shape of tulips and in the colour of flames (burnt-orange colour)! Referred to as the African Tulip or African Flame tree, this tree comes from Western Africa and prefers a tropical climate. The flowers stay on the tree from Autumn to mid-Winter and then the tree sheds its leaves for the new growing season. In the Western Cape, it is suitable for a small garden. It grows fast and will produce flowers from a young age. It creates a rounded canopy that is lovely for summer shade.
