Trees SA – Large Indigenous & Exotic Trees in South Africa

Ekebergia capensis (Northern)

Fruit Colour
Deciduous | Indigenous | Slow Growing Speed | No Coastal Tolerance | No Wind Tolerance

A lovely large tree to complete an indigenous garden. The lush canopy provides good shade and the red berries attract birds and insects to the garden. This tree is also often planted along street avenues and in parks. Its rounded shape makes it a great tree for kids to climb in. The Northern Variety is deciduous in nature, with a softer and more delicate appearance, displaying in a lovely red colour during autumn. Often confused with the Harpephyllum caffrum due the similar leaves and berries.
