Trees SA – Large Indigenous & Exotic Trees in South Africa

Celtis africana

Fruit Colour
Deciduous | Indigenous | Average Growing Speed | Average Coastal Tolerance | No Wind Tolerance

A magnificent indigenous tree that is well-known for its sculptural shape that is illuminated in winter by the white colour of the bark. But even more cherished for the pale new green leaves in spring that cast a splendid canopy of shade for the hotter months of the year. As the tree matures, the old bark can form horizontal ridges which appear like wrinkles on the tree and adds another playful element. A fantastic park tree that is well suited for kids to play in for many hours of the day.
