The lovely Leopard tree lives up to its name as the dark patches on the bark reminds one of the African leopard, and this feature is the main attraction for most gardeners. Moreover, it has delicate foliage which allows dappled sunlight through and is therefore attractive for gardeners who want to plant other flowers and plants underneath the tree. Even though it comes from Brazil, it does have quite an "African" feel to it as the canopy tends to spread into an umbrella shape as it matures. An ornamental tree in all the sense of the word.
